Nursery (Age 0-2)
We welcome and support families with young children by offering a warm and nurturing nursery atmosphere. The nursery involves play, storytelling, an age appropriate snack, and music lead by fabulous, trained, paid care providers and church volunteers.
Nursery Guidelines:
- Parents are responsible for bringing diapers and wipes for their child(ren).
- Parents should bring a sippie cup for child(ren) old enough to receive water with their snack. These cups should be clearly labeled with the child’s name.
- Bottles should be labeled and ready to serve.
- A simple snack such as Cheerios or Goldfish will be served. Please inform us if your child has any food allergies.
- Parents should complete a registration card and have a Polaroid photo of parents and child taken for each child.
- Parents should use the safety tag system.
- Children should be picked up promptly after the service.
Pre-Kindergarten (Age 3-4)
Preschool growth and learning set the stage for a child’s future experience within the Unitarian Universalist community. The experiences and messages of "Chalice Children" and "We Are Many, We Are One" are intended to affirm young children in their spiritual growth, social growth, creativity, and connection to their UU congregation, nature, and the universe. This class also allows plenty of room for free play and creative adaptation to promote a toddler-friendly environment!
Nursery Ratio/Closing Policy
The ratio of adults to infants (birth-walking) 1 to 3
The ratio of adults to toddlers (walking to 3yrs) 1 to 3
To ensure the safety of all children, we must comply with this ratio at all times. In the event of a staff or volunteer last minute cancellation, we must ask parents to stay and volunteer. If parents do not volunteer to stay, we will close the nursery once the ratio of adults to children has been met. This is only in case of emergencies. We provide a parent volunteer sign up sheet located outside the classroom door where you may sign up for open slots.
Pre-K classroom Ratio/Closing Policy
The ratio of adults to children (3-5yrs old) 2-any number of children Due to safety issues at this age, there must be two adults in the room at all times. In the event of a staff or volunteer last minute cancellation, we will ask parents to stay and volunteer in the classroom. We ask that parents remain with their children in the classroom until a parent volunteer is located. If parents do not volunteer to stay, we will ask them to take their child to the service. This is only in case of emergencies. We have provided a parent volunteer sign up sheet located on the door of the classroom where you may sign up for open slots. |
