I pray
that I am as much for you
as you are for me
I love you.

Who you are and what you mean to me
are expressions of what
life means to me.

I am thankful that in this time
our paths merge.
I am thankful for the long paths
we will travel together.
Let’s enjoy the walk together
and celebrate
the person each of us brings to the journey
and the love we will share
along the way.

Author's Note: This is a poem I wrote for my life partner (Sandy Saunders) on one of our Christmas celebrations. We’ve been together almost 25 years now and the poem continues to inspire me (and I hope Sandy). I have a Ph.D. in Instruction and Curriculum and I’m a retired Chief of Police.
