"Welcome to this Unitarian Universalist church!"
I invite you to come and get to know us. We are a vibrant and diverse community that has been part of the Asheville area for more than half a century.
We view ourselves as an important voice here for freedom, reason and tolerance in religion, and so we welcome a broad range of spiritual and theological perspectives.
We affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person and the right of conscience. In the covenant that unites our church, we promise to care for and support each other, celebrate our intentional diversity and listen to each other with openness, compassion and trust.
We also urge our members to put their understanding and faith to action in the service of others.
As minister, I lead our Sunday worship program, provide pastoral care and life event services – such as weddings, unions, memorial services and child dedications – and work with our lay leadership and church staff in planning and managing church business.
I was called to this church, my first settled ministry, in April 2004, began work here in August 2004 and was both ordained and installed in February 2005.
