Lenora Thom

Music Director

October 2009

Greetings to you all! I returned several weeks ago for this, my 7th year as UUCA Music Director, and it’s great to be back. I had a terrific summer and I hope all of you did, too. I’m looking forward to another exciting and busy year at this wonderful place.

The Adult Choir has resumed and sang their first service on Sept. 13. If you’d like to know more about our choirs, check out our music pages on the UUCA website (www.uuasheville.org) and click on the “Music and Choirs” listing in the left menu under “About Our Church.” The Adult Choir now numbers an astonishing 45 members – the largest church choir I’ve ever directed, a group I greatly enjoy and of whom I’m very proud! We’ve again welcomed several new members: Carol Taylor, Juliana Austin and Shalene Wyrick, and we’re delighted that Jan & Larry Knees have returned. Though we have “outgrown” our space (a nice problem to have), I don’t believe in limiting our numbers for that reason, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you are interested in joining.

Our other fabulous choir, the Intergenerational (IG) Choir, will be starting up again soon. Our first Sunday appearance will be on Nov. 1, and rehearsals will be on Sundays after services from 12:30-1:15 PM, beginning on Oct. 4, for four weeks. Again, for more information, check the website or feel free to email me.
