Lenora Thom

Music Director

February 2010

MUUsic in the Afternoon 2010 opens on Jan. 31 at 4 pm with Martin Hargrove, bass, and Scott Ward, piano, presenting a program of American art songs. This delightful one-hour concert will take us on a historic journey through the compositions of Stephen Foster, Harry T. Burleigh, Charles Ives, Aaron Copland and Paul Bowles. Martin is a superb vocalist and Scott is the very talented brother of our own Rev. Mark Ward. The $10 admission fee offers you this excellent concert PLUS a reception sponsored by the UUCA Music Committee – a great afternoon! Please plan to attend!

The Intergenerational (IG) Choir’s next appearance will be Sunday, Mar. 7. We will resume rehearsals each Sunday in February at our regular time, 12:30-1:15 PM. If you have sung in the IG Choir in the past, please let me know if you plan to participate this time. If you are new to the group, I welcome your interest and questions.

The Adult Choir has welcomed four new members, bringing our active roster to 50 singers. New members are Jeffrey DeCristofaro, baritone; Bob Gingrich, tenor; Joyce Hooley, soprano; and Julienne St. James, soprano. Recently a number of choristers have participated in the early service as soloists and/or in a chamber choir. They are Jeremy Bacon, Bekah Barlow, Dennis Campbell, Judy Clouse, Mike Ellis, Susan Guisto, Nana Hosmer, Jan Knees, Jesse Lee, Pam Miller, Nancy Nehls Nelson, David Robertson, Jacqui Schechter, Connie Schrader, Carol Taylor, and Alice Weldon. I want to thank them for doing “double-duty”!
