Lenora Thom

Music Director

October 2010

Greetings! Though I have been back at work for well over a month now, this is my first newsletter entry since June. I hope you all had a wonderful summer and that your fall is off to a great start! I am already immersed in Adult Choir rehearsals, service planning, practicing, and enjoying the start of my 8th year as UUCA Music Director. I also enjoy a large teaching practice (private piano and voice lessons) and have planned some musical theatre endeavors, so it will be another busy year!

The Adult Choir has resumed full-force, and sang at their first service on Sept. 12. If you’d like to know more about our choirs, check out our music pages on the UUCA website (www.uuasheville.org) and click on the “Music and Choirs” link in the left menu under “About Our Church.” Several folks are taking a leave of absence this season, so we have a teensy bit of extra room in our crowded pews! Even so, we are still often quite squished, but I don’t believe that’s a reason to limit our numbers. So, if you are interested in joining, don’t hesitate to contact me (lenorathom@bellsouth.net) to set up a simple vocal audition.

Our other fabulous choir, the Intergenerational Choir, will be starting up again soon. Our first Sunday appearance will be on Oct. 31, and rehearsals will be on Sundays after services from 12:30-1:15 PM, for just three Sundays: Oct. 3, 10 and 24. Again, for more information, check the website or feel free to email me.

It’s great to be back!
