On the first Sunday of each month, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Asheville shares our morning offering as part of our outreach ministry. The money is sent to a community organization designated by an advisory group from the Social Justice Council or is kept in reserve as part of the Minister’s Discretionary Fund earmarked for outreach crises. On Share the Plate Sundays, all of the undesignated cash and any designated cash or checks are set aside for outreach.
Selections (July 2008 - June 2009)
Organizations receiving the funding are selected based on the following criteria:
1. The organization provides service, advocacy, or direct action that reflects Unitarian Universalist principles and values; and
2. Unitarian Universalist Church of Asheville members and friends are or could be personally involved in the organization.
Organizations participating in Share the Plate must be nominated by Unitarian Universalist Church of Asheville members and friends. They are then selected by the Share the Plate Advisory Team. Nomination forms are available on the Social Justice bulletin board.
