What to Expect on Sundays

Filler

We know that it can be difficult to come into a large group not knowing anyone or how things are done. We want you to feel comfortable and welcome here.

Before the service
After you enter the foyer and are greeted, please stop at the Visitor Information Table just inside Sandburg Hall, say hello, and get a nametag. The person staffing the table will be able to answer your questions about Unitarian Universalism and this congregation.

Your children are welcome to sit with you in the sanctuary or they can attend our Children and Youth Religious Education (R.E.) classes. Nursery and childcare for those too young for our Religious Education program is provided during Sunday services. The person staffing the Visitor Information Table can direct you to the R.E. Department.

As you enter the sanctuary, you will receive an Order of Service that includes announcements and a calendar for the upcoming week. Click Sanctuary Photos to view or recently renovated Sanctuary. There is additional information in a rack along the pews. Feel free to fill out a yellow information request card and take any booklets of interest.

During the service
At the beginning of the service, you will have an opportunity, if you wish, to stand and introduce yourself. This helps us identify you so we may greet you after the service. Our service generally consists of music, readings, meditation, a sermon, offertory and candle lighting to express a concern or joy. On some Sunday’s we have a guest speaker and/or a lay led service.

If you should arrive after the service has begun, you will be asked to remain in the foyer for a few minutes and may join the service when directed by an usher.

After the service
After the service, please join us in the “Let’s Get Acquainted” area in Sandburg Hall for coffee and conversation. The hall can be quite busy and this area provides a quieter and more personal way for you to meet us and for us to meet you. People will be available to help answer your questions and help you get connected to our faith community.

Check out the postings of social events and activities on our bulletin boards in Sandburg Hall or at Events. Ask for a copy of our newsletter and join any activity that interests you.

Enroll your children in Religious Education. Registration materials are available at the R.E. Welcome Table or from the R.E. Director. Anyone at the Visitor Table can direct you downstairs to the R.E. Department.
