The UUCA Adult Choir, led by Music Director Lenora Thom, sings at the 11:15 AM service on most Sundays from early September until early June. In addition, the choir also sings at the early service three or four Sundays a year. The early service sometimes features a soloist or small chorus from the larger choir.
This talented group of nearly 40 adults performs a wide variety of choral music in 4-part harmony (soprano/alto/tenor/bass). The UUCA Adult Choir members are between the ages of 18 and 80+, with women and men being represented almost equally. Many are experienced choristers; some are music professionals and some are talented amateurs. All are dedicated music lovers who enjoy working, singing and socializing together.
The choir meets from 7-8:30 PM on most Thursday evenings from late August until early June; rehearsals are occasionally followed by wine and cheese gatherings scattered through the year. The choir also meets on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM to rehearse just prior to the service. Singers are auditioned by the Music Director at various times, by appointment, throughout the year. Sight-reading is a plus, but not critical. A pleasant voice, a good ear and a positive attitude are the primary requirements for membership.

Intergenerational Choir
The UUCA Intergenerational (IG) Choir is a group of children, teens and adults who participate in services from early fall to late spring. This group has evolved, since Music Director Lenora Thom's appointment five years ago, from a one-time Christmas Eve appearance to an on-going experience throughout the year.
The IG Choir sings at Sunday services once in the fall, for the family service on Christmas Eve, and on two Sundays in the spring. Rehearsals are held Sundays from 12:30-1:15 PM, after services, for several weeks prior to each appearance. No audition is necessary. Children age 8 and older are welcome, as are teens and adults of any age.
Participation in the IG Choir can be for all four appearances or only for those services where personal schedules allow, making this a very flexible way to participate in the UUCA Music Program.
In its "inaugural year," the Intergenerational Choir had over 60 adults, teens and children participate in this exciting new group. For more information, email Lenora Thom at musicdirector@uuasheville.org.
